People Kept Looking for Permission to Stop

The week left many signals waiting for an outside force to end the day, plan, meeting, task, or expectation. Rain, cancellation, delay, illness, and dead batteries were welcomed because they removed personal responsibility for stopping. Tiredness alone did not feel authoritative. Several signals needed pain, a doctor, or visible failure before rest became legitimate. The person could recognize exhaustion without believing it counted. The Pulse revealed a missing social signal: enough. Where no institution, schedule, or other person provided an ending, effort continued past usefulness. Stopping felt less like care than a claim that still required evidence.
